Campaigner opposes housebuilding plans which threaten villages' identity

July 7, 2010 2:12 PM

Michael Mullaney, the Liberal Democrats' parliamentary spokesman for Hinckley and Bosworth, has launched a campaign against a housing development between the villages of Stoke Golding and Dadlington.

Morris Homes are proposing to build houses between the two villages on land off Hinckley Road, Stoke Golding.

Michael Mullaney has spoken to some concerned local residents and has now launched a petition against the plans. This can be signed at http://campaigns.libdems.org.uk/page1637

Michael Mullaney said "This application is wrong. It will mean building on greenfield land. It will also mean blurring the identity of both Stoke Golding and Dadlington. Both villages are proud of their identities and it would be a shame if this development went ahead because it would literally mean a merger of the two villages.

"I am writing to local residents to ask them to support a petition opposing the plans. I hope that councillors on Hinckley and Bosworth's Planning Committee will vote against these plans."
