Council leader appears on first edition of new BBC politics show!

Stuart Bray on The Leader of Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council, Cllr Stuart Bray (Lib Dem, Hinckley Castle), has promoted the second year of the authority freezing its Council Tax, with help from a Government scheme, whilst protecting frontline services, on the debut edition of a brand new BBC One political programme.

He appeared on the programme, broadcast out of Nottingham, with the Conservative MP for Broxtowe, Anna Soubry, and the Labour MP for Derby North, Chris Williamson.

On the programme, Cllr Bray said: "We think the people of Hinckley and Bosworth, as with the rest of the country, are feeling the pinch right now, so we've decided it'd be wrong if we didn't take the offer from the Government and we don't want to add to the burden."

He also took the opportunity to praise the new Enterprise Zone at Mira.

Cllr Bray said, "In Hinckley and Bosworth, where I represent, this is not a gimmick. This is bringing in thousands of new jobs in the Mira Technology Park, which my administration on the Council has been helping to facilitate."

The position of Hinckley's local authority even won praise from the Conservative MP.

Anna Soubry said, "(The Government's) allowing very well run and responsible local authorities, like the one that Stuart obviously leads, to do the right thing."

Speaking after the programme Cllr Bray said, "It was a great opportunity to talk about some of what we're doing in Hinckley and Bosworth. Programmes like this have an important role to play in keeping electorates informed of what elected politicians are doing on their behalf."
