Robin has written to thousands of people in Markfield, Stanton-Under-Bardon and Field Head asking them to sign the petition. Robin said "I launched this petition to give people the chance to show their opposition to the incinerator. The planned incinerator will be less than three miles from the homes of people in Stanton-Under- Bardon and Markfield.

"Many people told me they are against the incinerator plans. There are real concerns that the incinerator will increase pollution and traffic on local roads.

"I am getting petitions back in the post already and getting more every day. I will be giving all the petitions into the council. Hopefully local Tory bosses will then realise how many people are against the incinerator and drop their crazy plans."
