Hazel Blears urged to come to Hinckley & Bosworth

February 21, 2009 12:00 AM

Liberal Democrat Regeneration Spokesman Cllr Stuart Bray (Hinckley Castle) has written to Communities and Local Government Secretary the Rt. Hon. Hazel Blears MP to invite her to come to Hinckley & Bosworth.

Cllr Stuart Bray said, "We are deeply concerned about the 12,000 extra homes and all the travellers pitches that are being forced on our Borough. I urge Ms Blears to come here so she can hear first hand the worries that local people have.

"It's all very well ministers and officials dictating these numbers from Whitehall but it is local people on the ground that has to live with these decisions. If Cabinet ministers could hear for themselves the strength of feeling of many people in our community then they might not try forcing Councils down this route.

"I would very much welcome to opportunity to take Ms Blears around many of the communities that we represent and show her the consequences of her Government's dictats."
