March 15, 2013 11:31 AM

Liberal Democrats are celebrating victory in the Barwell: Red Hall Parish by-election. The Lib Dems candidate Charlotte Green won the seat with 109 votes to 75 for Labour, with the Conservatives trailing in third with just 61 votes.

Cllr Stuart Bray leader of Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council said "I welcome Charlotte's election. She is well known in Barwell through her community work over the years on groups like Active8 and the Barwell Carnival Committee. She will make a great addition to the parish team.

"While other parties fought a negative, campaign with no positive ideas and personal attacks.Wwe fought on our local record and put forward positive ideas for the future of Barwell.

"This result shows yet again that many people in Barwell appreciate the all year round action from the Lib Dem team."
