Hinckley and Bosworth AGM success
Hinckley and Bosworth Liberal Democrats have held a successful Annual General Meeting. The packed meeting held in Hinckley, elected the people who will run the local party for the next year.
Speaker at the event was Bosworth Lib Dem Parliamentary candidate Cllr Michael Mullaney. Michael said "The next year is going to be a key one for Hinckley and Bosworth. At the last general election I came a close 2nd to David Tredinnick. If I'm elected next year residents will elect an MP who lives locally in Hinckley and who has a record of action campaigning with people across Hinckley and Bosworth.
"I've campaigned successfully with local residents to save Hinckley Ambulance station when it was threatened with closure, and am now campaigning, amongst other things, to save libraires in places like Barwell, Newbold Verdon and Desford which are threatened by Conservative County Council cuts. I'm also campaigning with residents and Lib Dem councillors to save the last bank in Earl Shilton the NatWest and campaigning for reforms to planning laws to give local people and their representatives more control over development. If the people of Hinckley and Bosworth support me next year they will elect a campaigner who will work all year round for them and champion the local issues people care about."
