County Councillor calls for new crossing to be installed near St Peter’s School

February 18, 2019 11:16 AM

County Councillor Stuart Bray (Lib Dem, St Marys Division) will this week press the County Council to install a new crossing on Hinckley's London Road near to St Peter's Primary School. Cllr Bray has tabled a question to the full County Council meeting on Wednesday 20th February.

This follows representations received by both school children and the Head Teacher at the school. Cllr Bray said, "The problem has arisen because the previous school crossing patrol left and despite efforts by both the County Council and the school a replacement hasn't been found.

"Anyone who knows this part of town will realise that London Road is a busy town centre through route particularly at school times. I was particularly touched by representations received from the school council pointing out the obvious safety concerns.

"When the children themselves are saying they do not feel safe, the County Council need to step up to the plate and act before a tragic accident occurs."
