Campaigners in the Hinckley area are celebrating news that the campaign to get X-ray services back in the town has been a success.
X-ray facilities were withdrawn from the town after the equipment was considered to be too dangerous to continue to use.
Hinckley Liberal Democrat Cpuncillor Michael Mullaney launched a petition to get X-ray equipment back in the town which got a huge response. Michael said "I'm delighted that our campaign has been a success. It's essential that we have X-ray facilities in our large and growing town.
For too long our local health services have been left to decline because the Tory government hasn't properly funded our NHS.
Liberal Democrat Hinckley and Bosworth Council also offered to loan the local Health authority the money to get X-ray services back. Michael added "I'm sure the offer from the council also persuaded both the government and NHS chiefs of the strong feelings locally about the need for these vital facilities in the town.
"A big thank you to everyone who signed the petition and backed our campaign it's been a great success."
