Tories fail to fund local councils properly

March 2, 2021 3:34 PM

Residents in Hinckley and Bosworth are to be hit with rising Council Tax bills this year as local councils are having to balance their budgets and maintain vital services due to swingeing Government cuts.

We have seen £billions handed out to Tory cronies in contracts during the Covid crisis . Money wasted on next to useless PPE and a test and trace app that has been proven not to work properly. Conservatives can waste money on contract for their mates but not properly fund essential council services that many residents rely on

Cllr Michael Mullaney, said "Leicestershire is the worst funded County in the country by this Conservative government. This means that local people are being hit in the pockets to make up the shortfall caused by the Tory government's stinginess towards our area.

"Local Conservatives have made securing fair funding from their government their flagship policy. They have comprehensively failed to deliver it.

"The Conservatives simply take Leicestershire for granted. You in May's local elections can send them a message they cannot ignore."
