Residents and councillors are urging action to be taken over irresponsible drivers cutting across the pavement at the front of a Hinckley Shop.

Cars have been cutting across a gap between the bollards on the pavement area at the front of the "One Stop" Shop on the corner of Stoke Road and Wykin Road. There are fears among residents that if this continues someone using the shop could be run over.

Local Liberal Democrat councillors have contacted the relevant council department and the owners of the shop, on behalf of local residents, to try and find a solution to the problem.

The company who own the shop have agreed to extra bollards being put in front of the shop as a means of stopping cars using the front of the shop as a cutthrough.

Cllr David Bill said "This really is an accident waiting to happen. I am pleased that the shop owners have agreed to the bollards going up to prevent this dangerous driving happening in future."
