Ambulance Service agrees to save Hinckley Ambulance Station

An eight month campaign to save Hinckley's Ambulance Station has ended successfully. A meeting of the East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) Board this morning agreed to back plans to have 28 Hubs and Ambulance Stations in the East Midlands including an Ambulance Station in Hinckley.

This follows an eight month campaign to save the Ambulance Station, since last July, when EMAS first proposed to close it.

Speaking from the EMAS board meeting Cllr Michael Mullaney Lib Dem Parliamentary Spokesman for Hinckley and Bosworth who helped organise the campaign to save the Ambulance Station said "This is great news. Months of campaigning in Hinckley, petitions, public meetings, demonstrations has helped deliver this positive result.

"It isn't often that large organisations change their minds during consultations so it is to EMAS credit that htey have listened to people in the Hinckley area and agreed to keep the Ambulance Station here.

"The Hinckley urban area, including Burbage, Barwell and Earl Shilton has one of the biggest populations in Leicestershire. It is therefore crucial that it has a permanent Ambulance Base to service it. Today's announcement by EMAS is very good news for our area."
