Ambulance Station meeting organised for Hinckley

Local Councillors and campaigners have arranged a public meeting about the future of Hinckley Ambulance Station. East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) are proposing to close Hinckley Ambulance Station along with 65 others in the region and replace them with 13 hubs, the nearest of which is in Leicester.

A meeting to discuss the Ambulance service in Hinckley has been arranged for Monday 29th October at 2pm at the St Mary's Church on St Mary's Road, Hinckley.

It is to be chaired by Cllr David Bill (Lib Dem: Hinckley Clarendon). EMAS have agreed to send a representative.

Cllr Michael Mullaney (Lib Dem: Hinckley Trinity) said "The meeting is open to all local residents. I would urge anyone with concerns about the future of Hinckley Ambulance Station to attend. Particularly people who have their own experiences of the Ambulance Service.

"I am glad EMAS have agreed to send a representative to this meeting. There has been more opposition to their plans in Hinckley, than in most other places in the County and therefore it's important they come to hear people's concerns."

Hinckley County Councillor and deputy leader of Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council David Bill added "As soon as this consultation started we visited EMAS at their Nottingham Headquarters and made the suggestion that if there has to be a change in Hinckley then consideration should be given to sharing premises between the Fire and Ambulance bases. We also made the offer to house the ambulance base within one of the Borough Council's added Centres . We really are determined not to give up on this!"

The meeting will be held at St Mary's Church on Monday 29th October at 2pm, there will be refreshments available for purchase from the Church's Coffee Bar before and after the meeting
