Angry campaigners tell Bank Bosses- reverse your decision and re-open bank

Campaigners fighting to save the last bank in Earl Shilton are furious that the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) has gone ahead and closed the NatWest branch.

They have written to the Chief Executive of RBS demanding that the branch be re-opened.

Over 500 people living in the Earl Shilton and Barwell area signed a petition organised by Cllrs Michael Mullaney and Mathew Hulbert calling for the bank to be saved.

Cllr Michael Mullaney said "Back in 2008 the big banks promised that all towns should have a bank. Now they have gone and closed the last bank in Earl Shilton town. I have written to the Chief Executive of RBS Rob McKewan calling on him to reverse this decision and re-open the NatWest branch in Earl Shilton."

Councillor Mathew Hulbert (Lib Dem, Barwell) said "I think it's absolutely disgraceful that RBS/NatWest have gone against the policy which was not to close the last bank branch in towns-and have left both Earl Shilton and Barwell without a bank branch.

"They've gone ahead and closed the branch in Earl Shilton despite hundreds of people in the town signing our petition calling for it to remain open.

I hope they'll reflect on this and reverse their decision to close it."
