Big Turnout for Lib Dem President’s visit to Hinckley
There was a big turnout at a meeting in Hinckley addressed by President of
the Liberal Democrat's, Tim Farron MP, this Saturday. The meeting, held at the St Francis Centre, Tudor Road,
Hinckley saw a packed crowd of Lib Dem supporters hear a passionate speech from Tim Farron.
In his speech, Tim Farron referred to positive Lib Dem achievements
delivered in government, and about how it was important to deliver a
stronger economy and a fairer society.
Achieving this through action, including cutting the Income Tax bills of tens of thousands of local workers
by raising the point at which people start paying Income Tax. This will
leave the average worker paying £700 less Income Tax a year from next April.
Mr Farron also referred to the pupil premium which is seeing more money
going into local schools and the big increase in apprenticeships.
Cllr Stuart Bray, Lib Dem leader of Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council, said
"It was great that Tim Farron could come and speak to local supporters and
hear about the positive things that are happening locally.
"We are seeing positive developments locally, like the thousands of jobs
being delivered at MIRA on the A5 and at DPD and Greggs on Sketchley Brook."
Cllr Michael Mullaney, Lib Dem parliamentary spokesman for Bosworth said "Tim Farron won a safe Conservative seat in 2005 that people thought would always be Conservative.
"After more than a quarter of a century of having David Tredinnick as our
local MP, people in Bosworth are ready for a change too.
"Lib Dems have shown they can win locally when they won a majority on the Borough Council in 2011. Labour are out of the race finishing fourth in May's County Council election and winning no County Council seats in this area.
"Local members told Tim Farron that they were keen to win Bosworth in 2015."
