Bosworth MP condemned for being obsessed with fringe issues

2 Aug 2013

Bosworth's MP David Tredinnick has been condemned for wasting time on fringe issues rather than those that are important to people in Hinckley and Bosworth.

It follows Mr Tredinnick's decision to submit an Early Day Motion to parliament about using homeopathy in farming.

Bosworth Liberal Democrat parliamentary campaigner Cllr Michael Mullaney said "This just shows why, after 26 years of Mr Tredinnick as our MP, our area desperately needs a change.

"An Early Day Motion costs about £400 of public money, surely that is money that could be better spent? Surely, Mr Tredinnick has better things to do as our MP than campaign on using homeopathy on farms?

"I have not heard the National Farmers Union or large numbers of local farmers clamouring for the use of homeopathy in farms.

"People in Bosworth want an MP who will campaign all year round on the issues that matter to local people, jobs and local services.

"It's abysmal that our MP should have recently opposed the plans by DPD to bring 700-1000 jobs to the Hinckley area. Instead of endlessly obsessing about homeopathy he should be concentrating on the real issues that affect local people, creating jobs and delivering quality local services.

"I and the local Liberal Democrats will continue to campaign on these, the issues that matter to people in Hinckley and Bosworth."
