Campaign group keeps up fight to save local services
A well attended meeting of a local campaign group vowed to continue to campaign to save local bus services and care homes.
The meeting of Hinckley and Bosworth, Save our Services group, held last Thursday, and chaired by Cllr Michael Mullaney (Lib Dem Hinckley Trinity) supported a report from Cllr David Bill (Lib Dem Hinckley Clarendon) which challenged Leicestershire County Council to answer questions about its transfer of 9 care homes, including The Limes in Hinckley and Harvey House in Barwell to a private company. These include asking for how long the private company will be obliged to keep the care homes open after they have taken responsibility for them.
The meeting also welcomed a report from Cllr Michael Mullaney (Lib Dem Hinckley Trinity) which called for continued campaigning to save local bus services.
These include the 153 service which runs through Market Bosworth, Barlestone, Newbold Verdon and Desfford which has suffered cut backs and other services like the Cresswell 7 bus that runs through villages in the west of Hinckley and Bosworth. The meeting also heard concerns that other bus services may be under threat if the county council pushes ahead with plans to cut half a million from the buses budget over the next three years.
The meeting included a question and answer session with Toby Sanders from the NHS about planned changes to local health services.
The next meeting of Save our Services is a public meeting organised by Pauline Cutress about the Health and Social Care Bill to be held at St Mary's Church Hall in Hinckley on Tuesday 1st November at 7.00 p.m
