Conference hears about manufacturing success in Hinckley and Bosworth
A leading local Liberal Democrat told his party's conference this weekend about new jobs, investment and apprenticeships being delivered in
Hinckley and Bosworth.
Lib Dem parliamentary spokesman for Bosworth Cllr Michael Mullaney spoke during the manufacturing debate at the party's national
conference.
Michael Mullaney said "In Lib Dem run Hinckley and Bosworth we have made supporting local industry a priority for the Council. We supported
Technology firm MIRAs based on the A5s, bid to become an enterprise zone. We were delighted that Vince Cable and the government backed the Enterprise Zone there.
"The Enterprise Zone in MIRA is due to create at least 2000 jobs to our area and bring millions of pounds of investment to the local economy.
"It is also good to see a big increase in apprenticeships locally. Last year the increase in apprenticeships in Hinckley and Bosworth was the 2nd biggest in the country.
"Recently the Deputy Prime Minister, Nick Clegg, visited the North Warwickshire and Hinckley College Construction site in Harrowbrook Construction Centre, Hinckley, to see the good work being done giving local young people the skills needed to find work.
"Manufacturing is a vital part of the economy in Hinckley and Bosworth and I'm glad Lib Dems in government are making manufacturing industry a priority."
