Conservatives dubbed “pathetic and ineffective” by Council Leader
The Leader of the Borough Council has described the Conservative Opposition Group as "pathetic and ineffective" after one-third of their group failed to show up for the crucial council budget meeting.
Cllr Stuart Bray said, "The February Council meeting is the most important meeting of the year. It is where the council agrees it's spending priorities and council tax levels for the coming year and 5 out of 15 of the Conservative Group couldn't be bothered to come. Out of the remaining 10 members, only 3 offered any comment on the budget at all. No alternatives were proposed and there were no amendments put. Their performance was pathetic and have totally failed in their responsibility as an effective opposition group.
"I am not surprised that they nothing to say. Under Lib Dem leadership, Hinckley and Bosworth has become the best performing district council in the county, we have one of the lowest council taxes in the whole of the UK and unlike our Conservative counterparts at County Hall we are not cutting the front-line services that local people rely on every day.
"The Conservatives proved themselves totally incapable when they ran the Borough Council, now they are shown to be incapable of being the opposition too. What exactly is the point of the Conservatives?"
