Council leader slams Olympic Torch decision

10 Nov 2011

Hinckley and Bosworth Borough council leader Cllr Stuart Bray has hit out at the decision by Olympic organisers not to include Hinckley and Bosworth on the Olympic Torch route.

Cllr Bray is writing to Lord Coe to express his disappointment.

Cllr Bray said "Britain hosting the Olympics will provide a once in a generation experience. I am deeply diasppointed therefore that residents of Hinckley and Bosworth will not see the torch without having to travel a significant distance.

"Hinckley is the 2nd biggest town in the county and we are located on several key transport routes. In my view it would have from a logical place to bring the torch through and I will be asking Lord Coe to reconsider."

Hinckley and Bosworth Borough council will be hosting a series of events related to the Olympics in the run up to the event.
