Councillors urge residents to have their say on threat to villages bus service

Two Hinckley and Bosworth Liberal Democrat councillors are urging people living in villages in the west of the Borough to have their say on the
future of their bus services.

Currently the Number 7 bus is the only commercial bus service that runs through a series of local villages including Witherley, Fenny Drayton, Sheepy Magna, Congerstone and Ratcliffe Culey. Leicestershire County Council are consulting on withdrawing the service.

Liberal Democrat councillors Bill Crooks and Michael Mullaney are urging residents who want to keep the bus service to have their say.

Michael Mullaney said "I have been contacted by a number of people who live in villages on the bus route concerned about the affect of removing the
number 7. Many of these villages do not have shops and other services. The regular bus service is therefore vital for those pensioners, young
people and other residents in these villages who don't drive."

Bill Crooks said "The best way of getting the County Council to change its mind is if enough people write in and ask them to think again. I would
urge everyone who uses the bus or knows of people who do to write in and ask for it to be kept."
