Development consultations underway
There are two development consultations which are currently being carried out. Both consultations are being promoted in our area by Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council.
Local Plan Review
This consultation is the first step to drawing together a new Local Plan for Hinckley & Bosworth which will cover the period up to 2036. This consultation runs until 4th March
Strategic Growth Plan
This plan covers the whole of Leicestershire and has been brought together by ten partner organisations and will draw together a growth strategy for the period up to 2050. This consultation runs until 5th April.
Both consultations draw upon a study carried out during 2016 to identify the housing and employment needs for the local areas, for the periods 2011-31 & 2011-36. These needs have been extrapolated to cover the period to 2050 for the Strategic Growth Plan. With an estimated 48,000 houses in the Borough 2017, an annual minimum number of houses required of 454, as suggested by this study, would give a total of 56,600 (+18%) by 2036 and 63,000 (+31%) by 2050.
Local Engagement
It is essential that local residents are aware of these consultations and over the coming few weeks we aim to draw out the implications of these plans, and ensure concerns, mitigations and benefits for local residents are clearly expressed to ensure local plans reflect local views.
Burbage Drop-In Session
A drop-in session has been organised by the Borough Council to give Burbage residents their first opportunity to review and ask questions about the formulation of these plans taking place on Thursday 18 January: 1.30pm to 5pm at Burbage Millennium Hall, we encourage as many people as possible to take this first opportunity to find out more about the future planning agenda being considered for the locality.
