Financial crisis beginning to bite locally as unemployment soars- Liberal Democrats
Figures revealed by Hinckley and Bosworth Liberal Democrats show that the number of local people who are unemployed has soared to nearly a 1,000.
The number of people registered unemployed in the Bosworth constituency in October was 989, a 30% increase compared to the 761 who were unemployed at the same time last year.
Michael Mullaney Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Spokesman for Bosworth said "These figures show that the financial crisis is beginning to have a real impact on people's lives here in Hinckley and Bosworth.
"The effects of the banking crisis have filtered down to the real economy and are affecting people across our area.
"The Government must turn its attention to unemployment, real families in our area are suffering as a result of the financial crisis. The Government must take urgent action to kick-start the economy. This means cutting taxes for those on low and middle incomes, to give people more money in their pockets and encourage consumer spending."
