Hinckley and Bosworth Hosts East Midlands Party Conference

Hinckley recently hosted a regional party conference. The Liberal Democrats East Midlands Regional Conference was held in Hinckley. Among the guest speakers at the event was Hinckley Councillor Michael Mullaney.
Michael said “It is great to welcome Liberal Democrats from across the East Midlands region to Hinckley. Here in Hinckley and Bosworth the Liberal Democrats scored their best result across the whole of the East Midlands at the general election. The Liberal Democrats came second here cutting the Conservative majority from 25,000 to just 5,000, with an 18% swing from Conservative to Lib Dem. Hinckley and Bosworth is now the 15th most winnable parliamentary seat for the Liberal Democrats in the whole of Britain.
“Locally we have achieved this by campaigning on the key local issues that people are concerned about. Fighting for improved NHS services, campaigning against the dumping of sewage in our local waterways and for a fair deal for carers of whom there are thousands locally who do tremendous work looking after friends and relatives in need.
“We have a team of Liberal Democrat Councillors locally in Hinckley and Bosworth who are entrenched in the local community and who campaign all year round for our local community. The Borough Council team has helped save Hinckley Cinema from closure, the Council offers support to local people through the cost of living crisis, has helped with grants to many local community groups and organisations, and provides a series of community events through the year when many other Councils have cancelled theres.”
