Liberal Democrat Councillors and members are heading off to attend the party's conference in Bournemouth this weekend.

Amongst those attending the conference, which lasts from Saturday 19th to Wednesday 23rd is Hinckley and Bosworth's Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate Michael Mullaney.

Michael Mullaney is aiming to speak in the main debate at the conference about the party's policy document "A Fresh Start for Britain". The document will form the basis of the Lib Dems manifesto for the next general election.

Michael Mullaney said "A Fresh Start for Britain contains plans that will benefit people across Hinckley and Bosworth. Cutting school class sizes, reducing income tax for middle and low income earners, and reforming our failed political system.

"In particular I am planning to speak about how important it is to scrap university tuition fees. Far too many young people in our area are leaving university weighed down with massive debts. We need to go back to the principle of free higher education".

Cllrs Adrian Smith and Stuart Bray are among the other local Lib Dems attending the conference.
