Hinckley and Bosworth people say "Save our Ambulance Station"

A petition calling for Hinckley's Ambulance Station to be saved has had a huge response.

The East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) plan to close the Ambulance Station along with 65 others in the East Midlands. They will then be replaced by 13 "Hubs" the nearest to Hinckley being in Leicester.

Nearly 1200 local people have signed a petition calling for the Ambulance Station to be saved. Petition organiser, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Spokesman for Bosworth Cllr Michael Mullaney, said "A huge thank you to everyone locally who has signed the petition. We have sent to EMAS nearly 1200 signatures, but we are still getting lots in every day so will send those in later as well.

"It's clear from the huge public response that people want to save our town's ambulance station.

"The Hinckley urban area has a big and growing population and there are many villages near to the town too. This size of population needs a permanent ambulance base to cover it.

"EMAS will be making their decision in December I hope they will listen to the huge opposition from people in Hinckley and keep our Ambulance Station open."
