Hinckley County Councillor calls for more regular trains to stop at Hinckley
Hinckley County Councillor Michael Mullaney has written to Cross Country calling for trains to stop more regularly at Hinckley
Cross Country are currently holding a consultation on passengers views and Michael Mullaney has written in to it calling for trains to stop half hourly instead of the current hourly service.
Writing to Cross Country Michael Mullaney said "I hope Cross Country can restore a half hourly service from Hinckley to Leicester and Hinckley to Birmingham instead of the current hourly service each way.
"The Hinckley urban area, including Burbage, Barwell and Earl Shilton is the second largest population concentration in the County outside Leicester. It is also a growing population with thousands more houses due to be built.
"A population of this size needs more regular train services. The hourly trains to Birmingham/Leicester can often be overcrowded. Putting on a half hourly service would help deal with the overcrowding and also encourage more people to travel by train as they would have the guarantee of a more regular service.
"I hope you will give serious consideration to more frequent trains stopping at Hinckley as part of your consultation and to show you are genuinely listening to local concerns."
Michael Mullaney added "I would urge other local residents to add their weight to the call for more regular trains to stop at Hinckley by contributing to the consultation by emailing consultation@crosscountrytrains.co.uk"
