Leading local Lib Dems back Tim Farron as he launches leadership bid
As Tim Farron announces his plans to stand to be next Lib Dem leader today he has already received strong backing from local Lib Dems.
Supporting Tim Farron's bid for the leadership, Bosworth parliamentary candidate, and Hinckley County Councillor, Michael Mullaney who came second behind David Tredinnick in Bosworth at the general election last week said "Tim Farron is just the man to lead the Lib Dems to recovery.
"He is just the kind of politician I admire. A grassroots campaigner who works hard for his community and speaks with passion and emotion on the issues he believes in. He took a safe Conservative seat in Cumbria and turned it into a safe Lib Dem one.
"Since the election last week more than 11,000 new members have joined the Liberal Democrats showing our party is beginning its fightback. With Tim Farron leading the party that recovery our party needs will continue and we can start challenging the Conservatives again in seats like Bosworth. "
Leader of Hinckley and Bosworth Lib Dem Councillors Stuart Bray has given his support to Tim Farron's bid.
