Leicestershire Councillor talks about Fire Services campaign on BBC East Midlands Politics Show

A local Councillor was one of the guests on this weeks BBC East Midlands Politics Show.

Hinckley County Councillor Michael Mullaney was interviewed on the show about a range of subjects.

These included the threatened cutbacks to Leicestershire Fire Service.

The proposals from Leicestershire Fire Authority would see the closure of two fire stations, and the loss of many fire engines and Fire Fighters jobs in the county. This includes proposals to cut one of the two Fire Engines in Hinckley. These are plans that Michael Mullaney and other Lib Dems are opposing. Leicestershire Lib Dems were the only party to oppose these cuts at the Fire Authority.

Michael Mullaney, who got the highest Lib Dem vote in the East Midlands at the general election, also talked about the huge surge in membership of the Lib Dems since May's election, and the Lib Dems gaining numerous Council by-elections since May, including the gain of a seat in Barwell from Labour a few weeks ago.
