12 Sep 2017

Councillor Michael Mullaney, Keith Nichols, Lynda Hodgkins and David Bill joined local residents and campaigners on a demonstration fighting to save Hinckley's Big Pit nature feature from development. County Councillor Michael Mullaney (Lib Dem: Hinckley De Montfort) who represents the area of Hinckley around the Big Pit site said "I was delighted to see so many residents turning out to campaign to save the Big Pit nature feature from development.

"Building on the Big Pit would be a disaster, there are natural springs in the area and building on this site will increase the risk of flooding locally.

"Orbit Housing, who are behind the planning application pride themselves on being a socially concerned organisation. Nothing could better demonstrate Orbit's commitment to locally communities, than that they listen to local residents and drop these flawed plans to build on the Big Pit. If Orbit do not listen to residents and f they press on with their building plans it will do great damage to their reputation of being an organisation that is meant to care for local communities"
