Lib Dems sweep to victory in Earl Shilton by-election

The Lib Dems swept to a huge victory in the Earl Shilton Church Ward by-election. The Lib Dem candidate Angela Williams won the town council by-election with a massive 68% of the vote.

Angela Williams becomes the first ever Lib Dem Councillor elected in Earl Shilton Angela said "Thank you to everyone who voted for me. I was honoured to secure s uch a huge amount of support. I will be taking up the issues people raised with me during the campaign in particular concerns about speeding on local roads."

 

Councillor Michael Mullaney Lib Dem parliamentary spokesman for Bosworth said "Last week the Lib Dems won the Burbage Stretton by-election in what has been a traditionally strong Conservative area. Now we have won with a big majority in Earl Shilton, which traditionally has been a strong Labour area. If people want a change from the current failing Tory government, Tory County Council, Tory Borough Council and Tory MP, it's clear that the Lib Dems are the alternative here."
