Liberal Democrats anger at exclusion of Hinckley from Ambulance Station consultation

28 Sep 2012

Liberal Democrats in Hinckley and Bosworth are furious after East Midlands
Ambulance Service (EMAS) excluded Hinckley from a list of of venues in
Leicestershire and Rutland where they plan to hold public meetings to discuss
plans to close Ambulance Stations.

EMAS have announced public meetings in
Leicester, Rutland, Coalville and Lutterworth.

Cllr Michael Mullaney (Lib
Dem: Hinckley Trinity) said "I can't believe Hinckley has been excluded from
this consultation.

"Hinckley seems to be the one place in
Leicestershire where there are most concerns about the Ambulance Station
closing, yet EMAS have chosen not to include us on this list.

"People have run
petitions to keep Hinckley Ambulance Station, the Borough Council has passed a
motion asking EMAS to come here. Yet despite all these concerns EMAS appear to
have snubbed Hinckley people. I hope EMAS will reconsider and add Hinckley to
the list of their meetings in Leicestershire.

"If not, I and my
colleagues will happily book a venue in the town and ask EMAS to send someone to disuss
local people's concerns."
