Local people urged to sign petitions to save bus services

9 Mar 2011

Liberal Democrat County Councillors for Hinckley and Burbage David Bill,
Stuart Bray, Keith Lynch and Don Wright are urging residents to sign
petitions to save a number of local bus services which are under threat.

Some local bus companies are currently in a dispute with Conservative run
Leicestershire County Council and have said they will be withdrawing some
local bus services.

The services at risk include the numbers 71, 75, 76, 81 and 82 buses that
serve Hinckley, Burbage, Barwell and Earl Shilton. These will end in April
if a solution isn't found.

Local Liberal Democrat councillors are currently lobbying the Conservative
run County Council urging them to reach an agreement with the bus companies
that will save these important bus services.

Hinckley County Councillor David Bill said "We only have a matter of weeks
to save these bus services. I would urge local people to sign the petitions
which call for the buses to be saved. The local Pensioners Action Group are
running a petition on this issue and local Liberal Democrat County
Councillors are collecting signatures to."
