Massive increase in recycling under Lib Dems

22 Jun 2009

THE residents of Hinckley and Bosworth are now recycling nearly half of their waste.

This rate is one of the highest in the Country and is a tribute to the commitment and enthusiasm of local residents.

One of the main reasons for the increase has been the success of the new plastics and cardboard collection service brought in by the Liberal Democrat run council. If this level of recycling continues the borough is likely to achieve its 50% recycling target by 2010/11.

Liberal Democrat Councillor Bill Crooks, who is responsible for recycling said: "I continue to be impressed with the residents' passion towards recycling. The public have told us that they regard the recycling service as one their most important and this performance shows it".
