Michael Mullaney calls on Labour supporters to switch to the Lib Dems

26 Sep 2016

Commenting on the re-election of Jeremy Corbyn as Leader of the Labour Party, Bosworth Lib Dem parliamentary candidate Cllr Michael Mullaney said: "The re-election of Jeremy Corbyn means Labour's internal war will continue. He has the support of only one in five Labour MPs. Labour can't even form an opposition, never mind an alternative Government.

"Labour under Mr Corbyn have been hemorrhaging support. Residents of Hinckley and Bosworth are wanting a strong opposition to the Conservatives. They know they can't get that from Labour under Jeremy Corbyn.

"Here in Hinckley and Bosworth elections, both for the Council and the general election are a fight between the Lib Dems and the Conservatives with Labour clearly out of the race. The Labour Leadership result, re-electing as leader Jeremy Corbyn, 80% of whose MPs voted that they had no confidence in him shows yet again, that only the Liberal Democrats can provide the opposition to the Conservatives our area needs."
