Michael Mullaney demands it's time for WASPI women to get compensation
Commenting on the report released today by the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman, that recommended that the Government should compensate women affected, Lib Dem Leader of the opposition on Leicestershire County Council Cllr Michael Mullaney said: “The failure of the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to properly inform millions of women that the state pension age had changed is one of the great injustices of our time.
“Nearly four million women, including many here in Leicestershire, had their worlds turned upside down by the incompetence of the DWP, and so I’m glad that the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman has recommended that they should be compensated properly.
“But it is utterly appalling that the Ombudsman has said that the DWP will refuse to comply and put things right.
“It’s vital the DWP are forced to act and compensate properly the women affected - the WASPI campaigners, here in Leicestershire and across the country, have suffered for long enough”
