Michael Mullaney selected to fight for Bosworth

Liberal Democrats in Bosworth have selected local campaigner, Cllr Michael Mullaney to be their parliamentary candidate.

 

A packed meeting of local Liberal Democrat members in Burbage selected Michael Mullaney on Friday night.

 

MichaelMullaney stood for the Bosworth constituency at the last election finishing a strong second to the Conservatives.

 

At the meeting Michael Mullaney said "Over recent years we have had a number of successes; like campaigning against the bankers plans to scrap cheque books, campaigning to save the Westfield Community Centre and campaigning to save the Maternity Unit at the George Eliot Hospital.

 

"I will continue to campaign all year round on the local issues that concern people, like campaigning to save Hinckley's Ambulance Station, and keeping local bus services.

"In the 2010 general election the Lib Dems came a close second to the Conservative MP here, Labour came a distant third. With the Lib Dems winning Hinckley and Bosworth Council last year we have a real chance of electing a Liberal Democrat MP in Bosworth at the next general election."
