Local Liberal Democrat Councillor and Parliamentary candidate Michael Mullaney has welcomed news that Income Tax cuts that will benefit 47,000 workers in Hinckley and Bosworth.

Michael Mullaney used a debate at the Liberal Democrat Party conference to highlight the 10,000s of local workers who from next year will have had an £800 Income Tax cut. This is due to raising the Income Tax threshold so that no one pays Income Tax on earnings up to £10,500

Cllr Mullaney said "I welcome this, but want to go even further. Our plans are to raise the Income Tax threshold to £12,500 which would save the average worker £1,200 a year.

"At this time when many people are struggling, raising the Income Tax threshold, taking many low paid workers out of Income Tax altogether and giving other workers a big Income Tax cut is the fair way to cut tax and to make work pay"
