MOUNT ROAD GREEN SPACE SAVED THANKS TO THE LIB DEMS
Liberal Democrats have kept one of their key election pledges by saving the green space around Mount Road, which was earmarked for the building of new flats by the former Conservative Council.
At the recent Council meeting Hinckley Castle Ward Lib Dem Councillors Stuart Bray and Tom McClure moved an amendment to the Council's asset management report calling on the Council to remove the site from the Masterplan, thus safeguarding the open space.
Liberal Democrat Councillors supported the plans but Labour and Conservative councillors all abstained.
Stuart Bray said, "This is great news for the people living in or around the town centre. Many people were extremely angry that the Conservatives had promised to build flats on one of our few remaining green spaces in the town. We have kept our election pledge and its future has now been safeguarded."
