New homes boost for Newbold Verdon
NEWBOLD VERDON families in need of housing will be able to benefit from four brand new houses that have just bought by Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council.
The Borough Council was able to buy the four two-bedroom homes, situated on a new development off Dragon Lane in the village, directly from the developer using £409,000 from the council's own Housing Revenue Account.
Now two of the semi-detached properties will be offered for rental to families on the council's waiting list and the remaining two will be offered on a shared ownership basis. Priority will be given to people with a connection to the parish of Newbold Verdon.
Executive Member responsible for Housing, Councillor Michael Mullaney said: "I'm delighted that the Borough Council is undertaking the first largescale council house building and acquisition programme in the borough for decades. These and future new council houses will help local families in housing need to move off housing waiting lists."
The rental properties will be advertised and available to eligible families to bid for through the council's Choice Based Lettings scheme. For more information on registering for council housing or to find out how the bidding process works see www.hinckley-bosworth.gov.uk/housinglist
