Officers verdict on Compost Site Welcomed

13 Dec 2011

Campaigners opposing plans to put a composting site near two local villages have welcomed news that Council officers are opposing the plans.

Planning Officers at Leicestershire County Council are recommending that county councillors oppose plans for a composting site between Fenny Drayton and Higham on the Hill when the council's planning committee debates the plans next Thursday.

Hinckley and Bosworth Liberal Democrat councillors Bill Crooks and Michael Mullaney, who spearheaded the campaign against the composting sight, have welcomed the news. Cllr Michael Mullaney said "I'm glad council officers have taken on board the serious concerns local people have about the composting site plans. Hundreds of people have signed petitions opposing the composting site.

Cllr Bill Crooks added, "I hope County Councillors on the planning committee will follow the advice of planning officers and the views of local people and throw out the composting site plans on Thursday".
