Phone Mast Plans “Totally wrong”
Proposals by two mobile phone companies to site a 15 metre (49 ft) phone mast in front of a newsagents on Tudor Road, Hinckley have been condemned.
Local Liberal Democrat councillors David Bill, Dave Cope, Michael Mullaney and Don Wright have hit out at the plans and are urging local residents to sign a petition objecting to it.
You can sign the petition against the mast on this site by going into the "Petitions column".
Cllr Michael Mullaney said "In the 21st century when most people have mobile phones, phone masts are necessary. However, care should be taken over where the sites are located.
"The site for this mast is totally wrong. Not only is it in a residential area, but it is right next to a planned new care home and very close to an existing nursing Home, on Tudor Road. The site is also only a short distance from Richmond School and the Hinckley Club for Young People."
Cllr Don Wright added "There could hardly be a less suitable place for a phone mast."
People can sign the councillors petition by visiting http://bosworthlibdems.org.uk and going to the petitions section of the site.
