Residents in north of Hinckley and Bosworth urged to attend new consultation event on Fire Service

Residents from the north of Hinckley and Bosworth Borough have been urged to attend an additional consultation meeting in Coalville on the proposed changes to the local Fire Service. The additional meeting is being held at Coalville Fire and Rescue Station on Monday November 9th between 745 and 845pm.

Under proposals from Leicestershire Fire Authority Coalville is due to lose its second Fire Engine.

Bosworth Lib Dem parliamentary spokesman Cllr Michael Mullaney is urging residents who live in areas of the Borough such as Markfield, Stanton Under Bardon and Bagworth, that are near to Coalville, to have their say.

Michael Mullaney said "There are real concerns that cutbacks to Coalville Fire Station will affect the service for people in the north of Hinckley and Bosworth. The proposal by the Fire Authority to scrap Coalville's 2nd Fire Engine and replace it with a Tactical Response Vehicle is a controversial one. The local FBU Chairman Gavin Lynch has described these new Tactical Response Vehicles as the equivalent of "a pick-up truck with a pressure washer. Even the Chief Fire Officer admitted they could only deal with very small incidents.

"Any resident concerned about these cutbacks can also submit their views direct to the Fire Authority at http://www.leicestershire-fire.gov.uk/irmp until the 4th of December".
