THANK YOU! Liberal Democrats gain overall majority

8 May 2007

Thanks to your votes, Bosworth Liberal Democrats gained 10 seats in the May 3rd local elections and now have an overall majority on the council. The result in Hinckley and Bosworth has been hailed by many as the best Liberal Democrat result in Britain.

Liberal Democrats now hold 19 seats to the Conservatives' 13. Labour has been reduced to just 2 seats on the new authority. Both the Conservative leader and Conservative mayor lost their seats.

Councillor David Bill and the Liberal Democrat team would like to thank everyone who voted in the local elections. "The real work starts now," he said. "We must all work together to create a safer, greener and fairer borough."

Full details of the new Councillors will appear here soon. In the meantime please contact 01455 632445 if you want to know who your new Councillor is.
