UNEMPLOYMENT IS 531 LOWER THAN A YEAR AGO in Hinckley and Bosworth
Hinckley and Bosworth Lib Dem Councillor and Parliamentary candidate Michael Mullaney has welcomed news that unemployment in Hinckley and Bosworth is 531 people lower than a year ago.
The number of Jobseeker's Allowance claimants in Bosworth constituency in December 2014 was 614. This represents a rate of 1.2% of the economically active population aged 16 to 64.
The number of claimants is 531 lower than in December 2013.
Michael said: "These figures show that unemployment compared to last year is again down. I'm particularly pleased to see that there has been a massive 61% fall in youth unemployment (18-24) one of the biggest in the country.
"It is great to see local young people getting into work and/or training.
"We have thousands of jobs coming to our area through the enterprise Zone at MIRA on the A5 near Hinckley and the DPD development at Sketchley Brook. We will also soon be seeing the new cinema, bus station and shops in Hinckley town centre delivered by the Lib Dem run Borough Council, which will give even more job opportunities to local people"
