A Hinckley Councillor is calling for several streets in his ward to be included on the winter gritting routes.

Cllr Stuart Bray (Lib Dem, Hinckley Castle) has launched a campaign to get the St Georges Avenue, Linden Road, Trinity Vicarage Road area included on the list of streets that is gritted by County Hall during icy weather.

Cllr Bray said, "I wrote to Leicestershire County Council back in the spring following requests from concerned local residents. Unfortunately County Hall responded to say that they are not prepared to grit these streets.

"Anyone who knows this area will know that the roads are very steep. During icy weather they become very dangerous. It is only a matter of time before someone is seriously hurt.

Cllr Bray has launched a petition calling on the County Council to change it's mind.
