The petition, organised by Hinckley Lib Dem councillors collected over 550 signatures. Hinckley Lib Dem Councillors have written to the Heart of England Co-Op, enclosing the petition and asking them to reconsider the closure plans. Hinckley County Councillor Michael Mullaney said "Lots of local residents are extremely passionate about the town's Co-Op Department Store. Many people have signed the petition to keep it open and I hope the Heads of the Heart of England Co-Op will rethink and keep this much loved Hinckley store open. "The Co-Op rightly says it values its roots in local communities, a good way it can show that is by changing it's mind and keeping the Hinckley Co-Op open".
