Call for Hinckley and Bosworth to get fair share of £74,224,000 windfall

Hinckley Lib Dem County Councillor Michael Mullaney has called for Hinckley and Bosworth to get its fair share of £74,224,000 given to Leicestershire to fix our broken roads and pavements. He was speaking after the Government pledged £6billion nationally to finally sort our damaged roads out. Michael has claimed that if Leicestershire County Council shared the money proportionately across the County - it will make a huge difference.

Cllr backs campaign to scrap Police Commissioners

A campaign to scrap Police Commissioners has got the support of a leading local Liberal Democrat. A petition has been launched to scrap the elections for Police Commissioners due in 2016. Supporting the campaign Hinckley Cllr Michael Mullaney said "The Police Commissioner elections in 2016 are likely to cost up to £100 million. That money could be much better spent on frontline policing. The turnout in the first Police Commissioner elections in 2012 was a mere 14.9%. It is clear that there is no public demand for this politicising of the police." "I hope people will sign the petition to abolish Police Commissioners at http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/68799" Author of the petition Sue James said "I set up the petition, on the Government's website, because I want to try to get a debate during this Parliament. I think M.P's now might come to the decision to end this costly experiment that the public has no appetite for. Otherwise, I fear, that after the General election it will not be a priority to
