Liberal Democrats created 840 new apprentices in Hinckley and Bosworth in last year -Cllr Michael Mullaney

Local campaigner Cllr Michael Mullaney has welcomed new figures showing that 840 people started an apprenticeship in Hinckley and Bosworth in the last 12 months. Liberal Democrats in Government have led the apprentice drive and are on course to deliver two million apprenticeships in Britain by the end of this parliament. And new figures from the Department of Business, Innovation & Skills show 840 apprenticeships were created in the area in 2013/14. Lib Dem parliamentary spokesman for Hinckley and Bosworth Cllr Michael Mullaney said: "Gone are the days when a vocational education was seen as the poor relation when it came to choosing a career path. "We are seeing more young people choosing apprenticeships while hearing from businesses who say they simply couldn't function without the talent and ambition they bring. One in a Million - tribute paid to the Trustees in Hinckley and Bosworth

Hundreds of events will be taking place this week as charities use Trustees' Week as a time to thank the one million trustees across England and Wales for their time and dedication. Hinckley and Bosworth Lib Dem Councillor Michael Mullaney has welcomed the work that trustees do for voluntary work across the local area. Michael said "There are 175 voluntary organisations in Bosworth that all rely on the dedication, energy and commitment of 900 trustees in order to support their beneficiaries. "To give one example locally, I have been honoured to be able to be a member of the Board of Hinckley Museum and to witness the fantastic work that the Trustees do to keep this great service in the area going. "Trustees are the people ultimately in charge of a charity. They make decisions that help charities achieve their aims and change their beneficiaries' lives. Lib Dems set to freeze Council Tax for 5th year.

Lib Dem Council leaders in Hinckley and Bosworth are set to freeze the Borough Council's part of the Council Tax for the 5th consecutive year, the Council Leader announced on Tuesday night. Cllr Stuart Bray (Lib Dem, Hinckley Castle Ward) told the full Council that his administration continued to ensure the Council was on a firm financial footing for next year and the next three years. Cllr Bray said "This will mean that throughout the full term of this Lib Dem administration we have not increased Council Tax by a single penny, yet we continue to maintain good local services. On top of this we have a regeneration record that is the envy of council's across the country with work well underway on bringing a new cinema, leisure centre and shops and restaurants to the town.
