Councillors welcome Post Office success

Councillors in Hinckley and Bosworth have welcomed news that the Post Office has won the DVLA contract to continue issuing driving licenses and car tax discs. Post Offices had the contract to issue driving licenses and car tax discs, but the contract was under review with payments network PayPoint challenging the Post Office for the contract.

Residents urged to show their support for Ambulance Station

Residents in the Hinckley area are being urged to attend a public meeting next Monday to show their support for the future of the town's Ambulance Station. The meeting takes place on Monday 29th October at the St Mary's Church, St Mary's Road, Hinckley, starting at 2pm. East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) are proposing to close Hinckley's Ambulance Station, along with 65 others in the region, and replace them with thirteen "Hubs". The nearest Hub to Hinckley will be in Leicester. Cllr Michael Mullaney (Lib Dem: HinckleyTrinity) who has helped to arrange the meeting said "I hope as many residents as possible will attend to show how much support there is for an Ambulance Station being in Hinckley. "When EMAS held a meeting in Leicester recently only two people turned up. I hope there will be a much bigger turnout at the meeting in Hinckley next Monday which will show EMAS how many people in Hinckley are concerned to keep an Ambulance Station here.
