Lib Dems will invest £34million to protect school funding in Leicestershire

The Liberal Democrats have announced they will invest £34 million more in schools and colleges in Leicestershire over the next parliament. The funding for Leicestershire would reverse cuts to frontline school and college budgets, protect per pupil funding in real terms and ensure no school loses out from changes to funding arrangements. £23million of the funding would be spent on protecting the Pupil Premium, introduced by the Liberal Democrats to help the most disadvantaged children. Lib Dem parliamentary candidate for Bosworth, Councillor Michael Mullaney said "Children in Hinckley and Bosworth are being taught in overcrowded classes by overworked teachers - but Theresa May doesn't care. "Under the Conservatives, funding per pupil is set to see the biggest cuts in a generation, while billions of pounds are being spent on divisive plans to expand grammars and free schools. County Council election results point to close fight in Bosworth at general election

The County Council elections have set the scene for a close two horse race in Hinckley and Bosworth at the general election according to local Liberal Democrats. Hinckley and Bosworth elected 5 Conservatives, 4 Lib Dems and no Labour County Councillors. In the Bosworth constituency it's even closer. Of the 8 County Council seats that are entirely in Bosworth constituency the Lib Dems and Tories won 4 seats each. Amongst the successful Lib Dems was their parliamentary candidate Michael Mullaney who won Hinckley De Montfort. Michael said "On paper De Montfort was a Conservative Lib Dem marginal, the fact we've won it comfortably shows we can really challenge David Tredinnick's grip on the parliamentary seat at the general election. "At the last two general elections I came a solid second to David Tredinnick. These County Council election results show that we are set for another two horse race between the Lib Dems and the Tories. If people want a new MP who lives locally, who campaigns on the important issues

The general election is the chance for a real change in Hinckley and Bosworth after 30 years of David Tredinnick as Tory MP say the Lib Dems Michael Mullaney the Lib Dem parliamentary spokesman, who came a solid second to David Tredinnick at the last two general elections said "Nationally it is clear that there is absolutely no chance at all of Jeremy Corbyn winning, Corbyn's Labour will be crushed at this election. "The real issue for local people is "who do you want to represent our area for the next five years?" Do people want a new MP who lives locally, who has a track record of campaigning on issues like saving the Hinckley Ambulance Station and Hinckley's 2nd Fire Engine and who they would have fighting for them all year round if they elected me. Or do they want five more years of David Tredinnick as their MP, an MP who lives hundreds of miles away and only raises fringe issues like homeopathy and astrology in healthcare. "Already our NHS services are underthreat with Hinckley Hospital and the Gle
